Unsolved murders and missing people in Florida
Most Florida cases belong to a county sheriff’s office or a city police department. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement runs the Missing Endangered Persons Information Clearinghouse, which issues the state’s AMBER, Silver and Purple Alerts, and a website where local agencies post their unsolved killings. Since 2024, the Attorney General’s Cold Case Investigations Unit has helped agencies chase leads and test evidence.
If someone in Florida is missing, call local police first, then FDLE at 1-888-356-4774. For a killing, contact the agency named on the story.

New update. Derrick Jones
A head-on crash on Heckscher Drive in Jacksonville killed Derrick Jones in 2016. The driver who survived was convicted of DUI manslaughter.
