Unsolved murders and missing people in Missouri
Missouri cases usually belong to the local sheriff or police department, with help from the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s investigators. Since 2020, the Attorney General’s office has run a Cold Case Unit that helps agencies across the state investigate and prosecute unsolved homicides.
In September 2026, the state joined the Cold Case Playing Cards program, which puts unsolved homicides and missing person cases on cards handed out in prisons. Each story below lists the agency to call if you know something.
