Unsolved murders and missing people in South Dakota
Most South Dakota cases start with a county sheriff or a town’s police department. The Division of Criminal Investigation, part of the Attorney General’s office, helps local agencies with major crimes and keeps the state’s missing persons clearinghouse, which a 2020 law created.
Some cases here go years without public news, then come back with a new search or a reward. If you know something about a South Dakota case, call the DCI at 605-773-3331, or the agency named on the story.
